Stompin' Tom Connors - And The Hockey Mom Tribute (2004)

Dr. Stompin' Tom Connors, Canada's #13 of Greatest Canadians, has just released his new CD entitled, And The Hockey Mom Tribute. We have lost track of how many albums that CD's Stompin' has produced, (in the high twenties) but his latest has to one of my personal favourites. The CD contains 14 songs and what is so great about the CD is that is all sounds very mellow and low-key. He wrote some new material and included some cover traditional songs, and added a new twist to these songs, as well added some new song lines. Listening to the CD, one can get wrapped up in the great stories about the Whale in Nfld, the Train goin' nowhere, Old Lake Erie and Nova Scotia. What a great tribute to Canadian History! One particular song that stands out on the CD is a comic song entitled, That Awful Thing? and another is entitled, The Whale and The Rex-N-Dale. Tom does a great job singing both songs.

The outanding musicians who perform on the CD are: Tim Hadley, Charley Roussy-Bob McNiven-Chris Whiteley-Dennis Keldie-Sandra Swannell-Darin Parise-Tom Connors Jr. and of course Stompin' Tom himself doing lead vocals, Stompin' Board & acouctic rhythm with background vocals by Donna Loree & Brenda Willis.

Tom was producer of the album and is on the EMI label. The CD jacket contains all words of the 14 songs which is very impressive. Atlantic Seabreeze gives this great CD a full 5 Star+ out of 5 Stars.
