That's one of them again. One who looks like he came from the coal mine. He comes from there, where they can afford to look like this for fun, from Berlin. His name is Dennis Grimm and he works as Brother Grimm.
Of course, one thinks of the brothers of the same name and their magnificent nightmare suppliers for small and large children. And that is no coincidence. Because even this brother Grimm is dedicated to nightmares, but they are his acoustic nature. Brother Grimm is also an esthete, because his ghost blues Gstanzlen meander over into the ballad box, ladies' acquaintance is the concert therefore not be ruled out in advance. After all, even the opening song of his current album titled Woman, which may be in view of the weathered gloomy sound probably an ode to a faded, calm gently.
Grimm plays his ghost house blues with grim rhythms, anemic guitars and a vocal, to which one can dignify a night watchman job in a tuberculosis sanatorium. So it sounds pretty interesting to sing I Am Afraid of Germany, summon Brothers and Sisters or moan the composting call Take Your Idols & Turn Em Into Flowers through the mic.
It is a simple art and it is convincing. It works since the Bible Belt was connected to the power supply and a bare-footed had to be electrocuted for the first time during the black burning. Bruzel, crackle, boom. So much stereotype must be, and so much stereotype should be. (Karl Curse / The Standard)
"King for a day fool for a lifetime," it says. This is not the case with Brother Grimm's current album, which swaps a letter and thus takes on a completely different meaning: "King for a day cool for a lifetime". The recently completed album of the same name features dark gray colored songwriter-rock, who wades knee-deep in blues with reduced arrangements. However, not in the classical style, but in the noisy interpretation, as they are known from Australian acts of the 1980s. Gentleness is also possible in the meantime or at all the same atmospheric drift as in the eleven and a half minute form and style runaways "Take Yr Idols and Turn Em Into Flowers". (www.falter.at) After his time with the band Sandy Bird, singer and guitarist Dennis Grimm is now transforming to a solo drama as "Brother Grimm". He is now much more direct and sometimes even more aggressive. He is between the lines, between the genres. He is louder than before and quieter. And he is alone.
