Rain - Rain (Reissue, Remastered, Bonus Track) (1972/2008)

Rain's only album from Philadelphia. The ensemble arose from the wreckage of the Rock Island group, which in 1970 at Project 3 Records recorded a debut LP that was positively assessed by listeners and music critics, which remained without its vinyl continuation. After the tragic execution by the Ohio National Guard of an anti-war student demonstration at the University of Kent on May 4, 1970, which killed 4 and injured 9 students, and a brutal similar incident at Jackson University (Mississippi) on May 15 of the same year, where police died two people and 12 were injured, and a powerful wave of protests swept through universities across the United States, attracting great public attention. Due to the growing student unrest, summer rock concerts on campus were canceled everywhere. The sudden outrage of American reactionary obscurantism hit the musicians of the band, carefully planning a concert tour in support of their just released album. Having lost most of the planned stage venues, the ensemble, in an emergency, for the next months unsuccessfully tried to close up the resulting hole, however, increasing internal problems led to desertion from Rock Island of individual weak-minded individuals, which completed the process of its complete disappearance from the musical horizon of the United States.
