Following on from his debut release, ‘Black Knight's Tango’, Mount Palomar returns with a body of work influenced by his teenage years and the rocky transition from boy to man. Having spent his formative years in the company of some friends who favoured disorder and trouble over an easy ride, ‘The Perils Of Youth’ is a journey that documents the highs and lows of adolescence, with all the excitement and chaos that it brings.
The opening track, ‘Disruptive Attention Seeker’, drawing on the very phrase used to describe Neil throughout his school days, is a hyperactive explosion of noise, which sets the tone and kick starts a journey that weaves from acid breakbeat, through experimental sonic landscapes to nostalgic synth dreaminess.
Comprising 6 tracks and 51 minutes of audio, The Perils Of Youth once again comes via twin vinyl, housed in heavyweight covers, hand screenprinted by Neil in the Belfast Print Workshop.
With a disregard for normal structures and sounds, Neil continues to prove himself to be one of Ireland's most exciting up and coming producers. With four Berghain live gigs under his belt, a new live set underway and his debut album in progress, 2020 looks set to be busy for Mount Palomar.
