I first bought a counterfeit of this in 1979, (knowingly–my friendly dealer wasn’t pulling a fast one, just making some music available that otherwise wasn’t). It was inferior vinyl, as you might imagine, but it was the one way to hear a little of the fabled early Rolling Thunder Review. Like many folks, I had watched the 1976 “Hard Rain” special and had that official release, but this was from the earlier part of the tour. And different tracks than on the Hard Rain LP. Anway, some years later–maybe 20? I found a real one, and you hear it here. Hear Hear!

“People Get Ready” is of course The Impressions. “Never Let Me Go” was a hit single for Johnny Ace, the hapless R&B star whose drunken backstage play with his pistol at a Christmas day concert in Houston didn’t end well. I believe that’s from a sound check. Maybe “People Get Ready” is as well. The other 2 are from shows.
