Along with their welcome Betty Davis reissue campaign of 2000, MPC added a near-definitive hits compilation. Split into the "Sex Side" and the "Sleaze Side," Anti Love hits most of the major moments from funk's most outrageous performer (no small feat), including "Anti Love Song," "He Was a Big Freak," "If I'm Luck I Might Get Picked Up," "Shoo-B-Doop and Cop Him," and her brash statement of purpose, "They Say I'm Different." Twelve tracks is mighty short for any digital-era collection, though, and it's missing a few high points (the title track from 1975's Nasty Gal, "Walkin Up the Road"). A solid first place to turn, but interested parties would do better to seek out the original full-lengths.
