Andrés Costureras arrived like a bomb in the underground circuit starting a trilogy of albums about mental health, death and darkness in 2011. Rexer Flash was the first chapter, but no one could anticipate what was to come.
Dormihcum (named after a sleeping pill this time ) was released this 2013 by Log Lady Records, an album in which Costureras stablishes an analogy between being asleep and being dead, and analogy between the pharmacology and the cemeterys. All of these conceived elements are protrayed in the haunting cover of the album, which takes the listener to the magic entrance of a very special place, a mental institution hidden behind a niches wall.
In Dormihcum, Pshycotic Beats gets rid of instrumentals and dares to sing and this is the first surprise. The spirits of David Bowie, Scott Walker, David Sylvian and Nick Cave seem to posses a voice which sounds emotional, passionate and beautiful. But one of the finest moments of the album is Pati Amor rendition of the beautiful Killer Shangrilah, a track written specially for her and that now has landed in the soundtrack of BBC America's breakthrough series Killing Eve. giving the track cult status.
The Black Sea it's his latest and most successful record, setting the human race to end its time on earth to start all over again in Planet Nine, the heaven of rock stars, and tracks like Black Moon Falling have gone viral proving that Pshycotic Beats is a force to be reckoned with.
