'Bringing UK flavours to the timeless sound of Chicago House, Grand Plans is the label project from Scott Diaz, whose music can be found on the likes of Simma Black, Defected and Large. He has also collaborated on tracks with the likes of Low Steppa and Matt Jam Lamont.
Scott Diaz's organic style of house has a timeless sound that’s all about soul, rawness and authenticity. This extended EP is only the fifth release for Scott’s imprint Grand Plans which was launched in 2016.
The concept behind Grand Plans is all about meaningful music-craft and big picture-thinking. Titled “Life On The Outside” this EP is aimed at taking the listener on an altogether deeper and more profound dance floor journey.
Each of the seven tracks has a two-step groove with shuffling percussion and sensual vocals fused with jazzy chords.
'Happiness Is Truth' opens the release with its jovial melody, piano chords and soulful vocal phrases. Getting deeper and seductive 'Life On The Outside' brings a laid back mood to dance floor focused beats. The gospel tones of 'I Once Was Lost' lead nicely into the chunky percussion of 'Song For Kelly' before the poignant bass stabs of 'Heartbreaker'. 'What You Do 2 Me' is all about the cosmic funk, and closing off the release is the intimate sounds of “Girlfriend”.s'
