Carla Marciano: "This album is my heartfelt tribute to one of the greatest geniuses of film music, composer and conductor Bernard Herrmann, whose music has overwhelmed me since my childhood." It was very interesting arrangements, revisions and adaptations for jazz quartet by some of the most well-known Topics of outstanding soundtracks that Herrmann has written for equally outstanding films - all psychological thrillers (hence the title Psychosis) of brilliant directors, including Marnie, Psycho and Vertigo by Alfred Hitchcock, Taxi Driver by Martin Scorsese and Twisted Nerve by Roy Boulting. Designed with a classical character and for orchestra, the tracks on this album were arranged with full respect for the originals, leaving, for example, the beauty of the tunes intact, but at the same time creating new improvisational spaces that allowed our quartet to maintain its identity. That gave us that too Opportunity to continue on a musical journey to which we set out with our first album (this is our fifth), and personally allowed me to keep up my improvisational language, always instinctive and willing to take risks, an expression of my emotional, spiritual and spirituality existential self, reveal my soul in absolute freedom through no compromise, but driven by a strong desire for research and experiment. I feel the emotions and suggestions that Herrmann's music (and the movies in which you can hear them) evoke in me as a wonderful gift. I hope I have been able to thank him through our heartfelt work.
