Sir John Paul's debut album, Mid Century Country has been 30 years in the making. After going through a particularly difficult divorce, and having to start all over again with children, Mr. Ouvrier put his dreams of entertaining on hold to raise his kids. As he said in an interview recently:
"I could not do both. For me, with my level of maturity, and how far I had to grow to be a good father, and the mistakes I had kept making until that point in my life, there was no way that I could be a committed father and an entertainer. I prayed and said, God, there is nothing more important to me than being a good father, what's my best path? And the answer was, while work can come again, childhood comes once. So I committed to my kids, and I never expected to return to show business, and have to pinch myself that I am!"
And return he has, critically acclaimed as a "Breath of Fresh Air in Country" When Your Kids Grow Up is about being a little older and having something to say!
"I remember back in the day, in the 80's and 90's," recalls Mr. Ouvrier, "that I was always looking for the next bit of wisdom I could get from the artists of the day. What gift from Garth could I get? Where was Tim McGraw going? Every time I turned the radio on, I wanted to learn and find hope, because back then, I had lost my home, my finances, and was now in deep debt, and that went on for many years. I needed that music to save me, and it did. I am not sure I would have made it without it. That music was my biggest voice of reason. So when the blessed time came for me to do my own music, I wanted to say, I am older, but I still need that wisdom, and I wanted to write that into the music so people today of all ages, could find hope for the future and that all the life experiences count and mean something. And that we're better because we're older. This music is a statement- And I say to all artists, write from the heart, not the formula! all you artists who are older:
So we highly recommend this album; it is a leap of faith that will end in joy. God Bless Moms and Dads, and Sir John Paul!
