Judging by the cover one might expect a somewhat psychedelic sound from Frame; instead, the band comes across as a progressive rock band dominated by guitar and organ, playing a standard mixture of jazz, blues, classical and folk. The eight tracks are a mixture of rocking ballads and heavier riff-laden tracks. In my opinion, the standout tracks 'Frame Of Mind', 'Winter' and 'All I Really Want Explain', fall into the ballad classification, the latter of which is arranged quite well and contains some great lead guitar and organ passages. Those of you who are into riff-driven tracks should enjoy 'If' (the best of the heavier tracks) and 'Penny For An Old Guy' which features a strong blues riff sounding as if it were taken from Jimmy Pages' repertiore. I found that the overall direction of this album was a bit too Anglo for my Kraut tastes, but I can see it appealing to fans of 70's classic/progressive rock. After this album the band disappeared and eventually two of its members, Claus and Hochdorffer (great name!), joined Pell Mell in the late seventies.
