The Mississippi Swamp Dogs celebrate the rich musical heritage of New Orleans and the Deep South with this heady Gumbo mix of funky, bluesy, soulful and above all, joyful collection of songs. Skilfully and authentically played by masters of the idiom, prepare yourself for a groovy ride through the repertoire of such greats as B.B. King, The Neville Brothers, Sidney Bechet, Dr John and Professor Longhair (H Byrd). Music from the Deep South is honest music. Music to dance to, music to make love to and even to say goodbye to your loved ones to.

The Mississippi Swamp Dogs also love playing music associated with the region. Enjoy a blistering version of Paul Simon’s “Late in the Evening” which totally sums up the joy of a sultry night of music making in a packed club. Then listen to the heart-rendering story of Louisiana, written by Randy Newman a tragic tale pre-empting Hurricane Katrina’s disaster.

Always the love of the music comes over from this talented group of players, drawn from some of London’s finest performers. Paul Miller on vocals and keyboards is probably one of the best blue-eyed soul singers of his generation; Dan Miller on guitar is always spot on whether soloing or adding to the phenomenal groove the band creates. In the engine room no one betters the talents of Manel Alvarez on bass and Jono Lee on drums. On congas, guesting with the band is Paul Urwin. Finally Ned Bennett on saxes and Jeff Williams: bandleader, vocalist and trombone, produce the fattest, juiciest horn sound and some “down home” solos that put the cherry on the icing on the cake! Jeff Williams put the Swamp Dogs together some six years ago. In that time the band has become a mainstay on the music scene in London and the South East.
