ZED is a band from San Jose California, their genre is basically all of the above rock wise, they have been around since 2007, they have 3 previous releases.
Heading down to business. "The Other Kind" has a hard hitting 70's sound going on, you can get where the comparison of an angry LED ZEPPELIN came in, they have taken the sound and made it darker and heavier to make it their own. It has great guitars, hard hitting drums, Pete Sattari's vocals are a beast, Mark Aceves's bass lines match the intensity of his fellow bandmates in this song.
"The End" slows things down just a tad, it is basically about peace and love being gone and what became of humanity to influence everybody toward hatred and chaos and how the world has become insane. "Wings Of The Angel" has a DOORS and ALICE IN CHAINS feel to it, producing a perfect mixture of the two, to make a pretty bad ass song. "Hollow Man" has a dirty seventies feel with Chris Cornell vocal feel, as with every song on this album, it's another bad ass song, it is musically and vocally a solid song.
"Take Me Home Again" begins with a flat extorted guitar riff that grows into a Jimmy Hendricks type of song and then carries over to a heavier song. "Chingus" is full of bad ass guitars, drums and bass lines. "Poison Tree" isn't your typical love song, it is a well written song with a dark spin on love. "The Great Destroyer" is a blues fueled rock n roll song that would have and still does fit perfectly amongst the great songs of the seventies. "Time And Space" is saying let's leave this place behind and hopefully find a new life somewhere else. "The Troubadour" is a dark brutal attack on your ears, with killer riffs, awesome drumming, deep bass lines and an amazing voice.
"Volume" is one of the best albums I have had the privilege of reviewing in my short time of doing this, all the songs are great, I cannot and will not pick a favorite song, if you are in to Rock music of almost any genre, Buy This Album!
