Affonsinho - Bluesing (2015)

In his concerts, Affonsinho always keeps a moment to flirt with the musical style for which he is in love, the blues. "Even recording new or MPB bossa at the time of the soil, I always play the blues scale, pentatonic," says the musician, who, after 15 years dedicated to other genres, materialized this passion for blues disc-shaped. " Bluesing "as the album was baptized, came as a good challenge for Affonsinho. "I had no difficulty in producing this record because it's like all these songs were stored in a drawer during these 15 years." The album features 11 tracks copyright, composed in English. Despite having lived a while in the US and have ease with the language in time to talk, Affonsinho - who is a master at playing with words - had some work to put letters on paper. "'Philosophize' or write letters is much more difficult," he says. Filled with references to their idols in music, like BB King, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Roy Buchanan, "Bluesing" carries the essence of full blues balance. Affonsinho highlights three songs: "I Love To Love You" ballad in the style of Eric Clapton; "Blues For Riley," a warm tribute to the master BB King; and "Jimi's Vibe," an instrumental track composed in tribute to Jimi Hendrix. Asked about the blues scene today, it does not hesitate. "In the US and England, keeps getting stronger ... crowded gyms and happy faces hearing so much quality music. In Brazil, of course, we are not so, but I see a very strong blues movement going on, especially in BH "he says. As in previous discs, Affonsinho called" musical friends "to participate in this work: Gustavo Andrade, Auder Junior, Pericles Garcia, Márcio Durães and Alexandre da Mata. "I already have partnerships with them and were the guys who encouraged me to go back to the blues. I can not forget Alexei Michailowsky.
