Jean-Loup Longnon was born in Paris in 1953 in a very literary and musical family. He started off learning the piano and the cello. Then when he was 15 years old, he taught himself to play the trumpet and got into jazz. It soon became clear this was what he wanted to do professionally.
The fact that he is largely self-taught musically in turn led to a keen interest in musical composition. Jean-Loup started playing his music first with smaller ensembles, larger groups and then, later, with big bands. Now, he has a string of awards such as the Prix Django-Reinhardt, prix Boris Vian, prix audiovisuel de l'Europe and the Django d'Or under his belt...
