The rock is easy-going in Holden’s superb folk rock repertoire and his ballads build in evocative narratives. The poignant opener “Boys In The Street”—highlighting the emotional discomfort of a father-son relationship—grows into the self-confident, radio-friendly choruses of “Hold On Tight” and “Bulletproof”, proving the singer-songwriter’s soft rock tales have more nerve and soul once one scratches the surface.
A soulful, Scottish-born, English singer/songwriter with a knack for crafting regional indie folk that's shot through with a heavy dose of dusty, dirt road Americana, Aberdeen native Greg Holden honed his chops in Lancashire and London before relocating to New York City. Holden developed an adoring fan base with his frequent live YouTube performances, and in 2009 he issued his debut album, A Word in Edgeways, via his own Falling Art Recordings label. He released an EP the following year, and in 2011 he put out his independent sophomore outing, the Kickstarter-funded I Don't Believe You -- the album included the international hit "The Lost Boy," which featured heavily during a pivotal moment on the popular FX series Sons of Anarchy. The following year saw Holden co-pen "Home" with Drew Pearson; the song became a hit for season 11 American Idol winner Phillip Phillips. Holden's songs continued to appear in television shows, including One Tree Hill and Private Practice, and in 2014 he inked a deal with Warner Bros. and began work on his third album. The resulting Greg Wells-produced Chase the Sun arrived in early 2015.
