Midwest Chamber Ensemble - Vieux Amis-Nouveaux Costumes Old Friends in New Clothes (2019)

The Midwest Chamber Ensemble is a Kansas City-based organization dedicated to the performance of chamber orchestra and chamber ensemble music of the classical tradition. Selected by audition, ensemble members are primarily young professional musicians and exceptional music students. The Midwest Chamber Ensemble prepares its members for future career opportunities by creating a professional environment and provides audiences with quality performances.

The ensemble is recording a third professional CD, Vieux Amis - Nouveaux Costumes: Old Friends in New Clothes, to bring their music to a larger and more diverse audience of music lovers. The newest album features three pieces by Philip Lasser, a musician of international renown and distinguished member of the faculty of The Juilliard School. Works on this album include "The Jewelry Box" for violin and piano, Sonata for cello and piano, Ballade for flute and string quintet, and his arrangements of eight songs by Faure and Debussy. Kansas City native Sarah Tannehill Anderson, soprano, joins the ensemble to sing these wonderful pieces.
