EGi is proud to announce the release of their second full length album, “Vessel”, set to be available in all forms March 2nd, 2018. While touring extensively the last two years and playing hundreds of shows, the band has honed in on the sound they truly want to put forth...and crowds have responded. This record is the culmination of growth and evolving style that EGi has gone through, individually and collectively. While continuing the good time jam funk and world flare that their first album (Plyatron) featured, “Vessel” has a darker disposition and noticeable focus on musicianship and composition. However, the band encouraged each other to take chances and improvise in an attempt to capture a bit of that beloved live show energy.
A staple of EGi has always been the dual lead guitar sound (James Hernandez & Noe Perez), complimenting each other through an understood recognition of space and harmony, which really shines through on this sophomore effort. The rhythm section (Allan Borukhovich on bass and Drew Littell on drums) provides a driving backbone while keeping the pocket deep and funky throughout each song, stepping up to shine when the moment calls for it. The band set out to embrace a more raw, rock n’ roll feel; that goal was accomplished in full. If it had to be described with vague comparisons, “Vessel” combines the the melodic approach of Pink Floyd, the progressive riffing of King Crimson, and the quirky but raw funk of early Red Hot Chili Peppers.
