Originaire de Paris et depuis 2013, The Roots Engine est groupe de 8 musiciens pratiquant un reggae roots teinté de jazz, de dub et de soul. Portée par un duo de chanteurs voix féminine/masculine et des riffs de cuivres brillants, la formation a la volonté de partager une musique différente, singulière et sincère.
Depuis 2015 et pour promouvoir un premier album 10 titres, Homemade, The Roots Engine partage la scène avec des groupes majeurs de la scène française tels que Sinsemilia, Jehro, Kacem Wapalek, Imany, HK et les Saltimbanks, Highlight Tribe, Joe Pilgrim and the Ligerians, Mahom, Marcus Gad et bien d'autres.
En mai 2016, le groupe sort son premier clip, Maybe, qui sera suivi en Mars 2017, par un second clip, live cette fois-ci, du morceau The Soul Hunter.
Les deux titres apparaitront sur un album 12 titres que le groupe a enregistré en juin 2017 au Wise studio (Ris Orangis). Cet album sort en février 2018.
