Since her debut album release "How Lucky" in 2003, Melanie Stace has been living and working mainly in the US. "How Lucky" featured songs she much admired and had performed in Musical Theatre, and the album garnered some great reviews. "The Key To Me" however, is in a completely different musical genre and all of the songs are original, written by Stace and her writing partner, Wayne Brown (Virtual Media Enterprises). Stace realized that this album would be personal, but in the writing and performing of the songs wasn't prepared for the affect it would have on her. The songs have enabled her to connect with herself for the first time. The first meeting with Wayne Brown sparked a creative flame in Stace, which resulted in a journey to meet Brown at his studio to discuss the possibility of writing together. Stace and Brown are seemingly from different ends of the musical spectrum, but they quickly found their common ground with a mutual love and admiration of the writings of such R & B luminaries as Smokey Robinson and Stevie Wonder. At the end of her first short session with Brown, Stace had outlined her first song "Living Without Your Love " and wrote the lyric for the song on her way home that night. "The Key To Me" marks the beginning of a very particular partnership and musical collaboration, and this collection of original songs reflect some of Stace's' innermost thoughts and experiences.
