Gale Garnett And The Gentle Reign - An Audience With The King Of Wands (Reissue, Remastered) (1968/2006)

Gale Zoë Garnett was born in Auckland (New Zealand) on July 17, 1942 and moved to Canada with her family when she was 11. She began her career as an actress, appeared in many productions and, eventually, moved on to numerous television shows including Hawaiian Eye, 77 Sunset Strip and Bonanza. She wrote songs as a hobby, but in 1963, RCA Records, impressed with her voice and songs, signed a recording contract with her. In 1964, her debut album, “My Kind Of Folk Songs,” produced the single “We’ll Sing In The Sunshine”. The song took 5th place on Billboard, and then won the Grammy Award. Her next release, however, did not achieve the same success, “Lovin’ Place ”stopped at 54th place. By the end of the 60s, Garnett and her band on the backing vocals of Gentle Reign came under the influence of the hippie counter-cultural movement, covering psychedelia, singing songs about flowers, rainbows, magic wands and other charms.
