AXEL'S AXIOM – anecdotal evidence
Finishing my second album was a long process. Composing music can sometimes be fast and easy for me, but mostly there are plenty of obstacles to overcome before I can consider a composition to be finished.
When the music was finally ready, the band went out to present the new material live on several occasions, in addition to some rehearsals, and over a period of 6-8 months. My goal was to allow everyone to become comfortable with the form and structure of each piece.
This strategy worked out reasonably well, and after recording the tracks in the studio I spent several months with post-production. My view is that a CD production is fundamentally different from a live concert, and I feel that it is therefore legitimate (or sometimes even required) to add parts and instruments to the tracks, simply in order to get closer to the original conception of the composition.
After this extended process, I am happy and proud that anecdotal evidence is now finally about to be released. The successful realization of original music always creates a very special feeling, and I am grateful to the band members as well as everyone else who worked on this project, for their passion, energy, and patience.
