Born in 1978, tenor saxophonist, teacher and composer Andrés Hayes began his musical career at age 13. He debuted as leader in 2010 with El silenciero, accompanied by Pedro Ahets Etcheberry (drums), Jerónimo Carmona (double bass), Patricio Carpossi (guitar) and Hernán Jacinto (piano and synth Nord). Two years later the successor would arrive, from a garden, with the same quintet with the exception of the entrance of Ernesto Jodos instead of Hernán Jacinto.
Former member of Mazaki Tazaki, Deshoras and HDV HC (along with Austrian musicians), currently integrates Artistry Big Band and is part of the projects of Teo Cromberg, Hernan Mandelman, Juan Pablo Hernandez, among others. Founding member of the Sofá Records label, he presents his third opus in society, entitled The Empire of Lights with the same background as his predecessor.
As usual, the album contains Hayes original compositions except one of them, shared authorship with Gustavo Hernández, who knew how to be a harmony and audio teacher of the saxophonist. This is not the only "life" reference on the record, since another of his teachers, the internationally recognized saxophonist George Garzone (whose CV impresses others) participates in two themes as guest speakers.
