Aaron White (Northern Ute/Diné) is a guitarist, singer/songwriter, Native American flutist and flutemaker, and lecturer on the culture, history, and healing properties of the flute. In 1990, Aaron formed the groundbreaking Burning Sky trio, the first ensemble to combine Native American flute with acoustic guitar and drums and pioneered a sound that earned a 2003 Grammy Nomination for Best Native American Album for “Spirits in the Wind” and a 2004 Native American Music Award for Group of the Year. For 30 years, Aaron has been one of Arizona’s busiest musicians, performing guitar and flute in concert, at museums, and for major events and private corporations. He has been a regular performer for many years at the Wild Horse Pass Resort near Phoenix. Aaron has performed with Jackson Browne, John Densmore (Doors), Bruce Cockburn, and Taj Mahal. Aaron’s music has been heard in award-winning films such as "The Doe Boy" (NHK Award Sundance Film Festival), “Sud Funk, Life of the Navajo” (ARD Germany), “Life of the Navajo” (NHK Productions Japan), and “Two Spirits” (PBS), “True Whispers – Navajo Code Talkers,” and “Secret of the Lizard Woman.” Aaron is an accomplished Native American flutemaker and his flutes are on display at the Musical Instrument Museum, where Aaron has performed several times. Aaron believes music is medicine that heals and mends the spirit of all people of the world, “All of us carry the gifus of music in our heart and soul. May we always share those gifus with open hands and a whole heart.
