Jazz is defined by the pianist as the art form that has contributed to promoting intercultural dialogue, respect for human rights and human dignity, eradicating discrimination, strengthening gender equality and enhancing the role of young people in social changes.
The MusicArte Cultural and Music Association in collaboration with the Pro Loco of Carpino and the Municipality of Carpino, celebrates the International Jazz Day as follows: April 30 Pasta Nera Jazz Project in concert at 9.00 pm at the Cultural Center Andrea Sacco, which will present for the occasion the new album with the homonymous title, released on April 15th.
Finding a possible connection between jazz and the popular tradition of the Gargano and Monti Dauni is one of the reasons that inspired the birth of Pasta Nera Jazz Project. Designing the future without forgetting the roots, history and heritage handed down from the voices and instruments of past lives. This musical project aims to be a tribute to the popular tradition of Capitanata, revitalized in a jazz key.
Another important goal of Pasta Nera Jazz Project is to search for the beautiful and ancient melody that has its roots in the various and continuous sound-cultural contaminations that occurred over time. The popular tradition meets jazz, this is the musical performance of the group, a journey through the perpetual plots and the vital energy of the Tarantella of Carpino, between the mountains dauni and the most beautiful ballads of love, fatigue and injustice of the apricenese storyteller Matteo Salvatore but also of original compositions, where the most famous melodies of these traditions revive in the passionate interpretation of the group in a jazz and modern key.
The Pasta Nera jazz Project was born in 2018 from the meeting of two musicians of Capitanata the pianist and composer Felice Lionetti and the saxophonist and clarinetist Antonio Pizzarelli, both jazz musicians but also lovers of traditional music.
