New York-based, Jamaica-born producer Musical Masquerade will release his debut album Elements of Reggae today (Friday May 10) via all digital platforms.
The 11-track project includes some previously released tracks, new tracks and remixes.
Among the artistes who collaborated on the project are Agent Sasco, Rayvon, Red Fox, Kafinal, Ding Dong, Spice, Serani, Mavado and rapper Jadakiss.
The project took a few years to complete.
“This was a labour of love that took a couple years to gather the right songs, the right artistes and production to get it just the way I wanted it, to deliver it to the world,” Musical Masquerade explained.
The album boasts a mix of dancehall and reggae acts. Musical Masquerade explained the significance of the project.
“Over the years, the sound of reggae and Caribbean-fused music has dominated the global commercial music space. However many of those commercially successful songs rarely had our artistes as the main featured act,” he said. “Therefore, the significance of this project is to tap into that same space and sound of the Caribbean, but using artistes and musicians all from the Caribbean. (It is) Simply a showcase that we can create a commercially viable hit as well as anyone.”
According to the producer, a team of local and overseas musicians contributed to the project. It was produced and executive produced by Musical Masquerade.
