Kaiser Franz Josef from Vienna, Austria, was founded in 2010 by members Sham (vox, guitar) and Tom (drums). They found a third band member in Can (bass). In May of the same year they already opened up for AC/DC in the Austrian city of Wels in front of 82.000 people. In 2013 the band got a lot of attention through their performances on ‘Die große Chance’, a popular TV show on Austrian national TV ORF. Those performances got the band a deal with COLUMBIA RECORDS. An EP, “How Much Is A Mile”, was released in November 2013.
The EP peaked at #8 in the Austrian sales charts. One month later the debut album “Reign Begins” was released. The Album peaked at #10 in the Austrian sales charts. At the annual AMADEUS AWARDS, the Austrian Music Awards, KAISER FRANZ JOSEF won the award in the “Rock / Hard n Heavy” category. After touring with THE BOSSHOSS, DAUGHTRY and on their own, performing at the well established Austrian NOVA ROCK festival and sharing stages with many others, KAISER FRANZ JOSEF now are back with a new bass player, Peter, and a new album up their sleeves. The new, yet untitled album, is set for a release in May/June 2017. The promotional work for the album will begin in early 2017.
