This world première recording ,featuring an extraordinary cast of prominent Baroque singers, combines Martín y Soler s two stage cantatas: La Dora festeggiante, Torino 1783, poetry by Cesare Olivieri, and Il Sogno, Vienna 1787: the only example of a collaboration between Soler and Lorenzo Da Ponte in this most extensive form of the genre. These cantatas together with Il re Gerone (Naples, 1779) with libretto by Luigi Serio and La deità benéfica (St Petersburg 1790), text by Ferdinando Moretti, constitute the main corpus of secular cantatas by the Valencian composer. Spanish conductor Juan Bautista Ottero, a young, talented, and tireless Baroque pioneer, has enjoyed great success with his previous opera recordings, mostly available on K617, but also on this new label RCOC. Beuatifully packaged with full librettos and an essay by Juan Bautista Otero. A must have for any opera lover!
