"Turbio" was conceived in 2017, on a period where the producer lost 2 computers, the recording process was difficult, all the songs would travel on Hard Drives, so composition and arrangement were only possible during late nite hours on borrowed studios and computers. All the songs present a similar motif, a desperate quest for tonality and to approach feelings from behind a curtain of smoke, the harmonies give us a sense of tension and despair, or even anger. Rhythmically it remind us a bit of genres like dembow, gqom, dancehall, deconstructed club, grime and more, they're highly aestheticized and have many adornments. There's an orchestral aspect to it on different tracks, and on the final track you can listen an influence of free Jazz. The palette of sounds is very diverse and on La Excavación there are some sounds recorded during the rescue efforts of the Earthquake that hit México City during 2017, where the producer volunteered. All the final tracks and details were finished during the RBMA 18 in the Funkhaus Berlin, a very different escenario from where the whole album started. The concept revolves about everything that is turbid, or cloudy, in a way it's also an ode to NarcoCulture and there are some sounds that try to convey the stress of the drug wars that have been happening in the country for the past decade. Diffused and complex. -Wasted Fates
