The Compline Choir - Of the Lord's Mercies (2019)

The recording is a sonic journey through the arc of what Western Christendom calls the Paschal Cycle, encompassing the seasons of Lent, including Holy Week, and Easter, culminating on Pentecost: The 50th Day of Easter. This disc combines some of The Compline Choir’s best-loved seasonal music, like Easter Canticle and Regina caeli, with music newly composed, like the title track Of the Lord’s Mercies and Nunc dimittisby Seattle-based composer and The Compline Choir’s composer-in-residence Erin Aas (b. 1974). The disc also features new recordings of Lamentations of the Prophet Jeremiah and Come, Holy Spirit and a premiere recording of If we could shut the gate composed by the choir’s founder and beloved first director, Peter R. Hallock (1924–2014).
