The long-awaited second album from this bi-coastal band. With one member in Los Angeles and the remaining members in Ohio, this rock/pop combo are always trying to create music that will be enjoyable, and ear candy for their listeners. Take a listen!
This album, "Week Minded", the long-awaited sequel to their self-titled debut, started out as a continuation of the songwriting and rough demos that the first album initiated. The first album "Identical Suns" was largely created on the fly. Songwriting that started out with lead songwriters Todd Stanton and Rene Rodriguez messing around with concepts, melodies and lyrics. This album was not created that way. It was a deliberate attempt to stretch their songwriting wings, now including Andrew Stanton as a contributing songwriter. Let's talk about their songwriting process for a second. You may or may not know but Todd and Andrew live in Ohio, Rene Rodriguez lives in a Los Angeles suburb. Demos are written by one of them, starting out with either Todd, Rene or Andrew. A rough concept or idea may be recorded and then shared with the others. Andrew generally writes a song, usually without the melody. The melody is usually filled in by Todd and the lyrics are started by Rene. Sometimes Todd or Rene will write a song. Todd usually writes the chords and melody, Rene will write some lyrics. Todd and/or Rene will re-work the lyrics as needed. It seems tedious but the process works. The songs on this new album represent a new direction for the group. Still embracing their pop roots, Beatle licks and Beach Boy vibe, a little bit of ELO and a healthy dose of guitar driven rock. The band hopes you love it. Give it a listen.
