Volume 4 completes cpo edition with the recording of all chamber music for wind instruments by Ludwig van Beethoven. The finale will be the Sextet op. 71, the Duo No. 3 for clarinet and bassoon, the curious and first recorded little march in B flat major, which Beethoven probably composed in 1807 for the grenadier music of Prince Esterhazy, and the quintet for oboe, three Horns and bassoon.
The convincing additions to the quintet came from the Vienna music director Leopold Alexander Zellner and the completion of the trio in the minuet set was made especially for the present recording by the bassoonist Eberhard Buschmann.
Again, the "simply beautiful" masterpieces of the then young composer are energetically interpreted by the Consortium Classicum.
