This first album comes from our desire to showcase our three years of musical adventures as a quintet. We would love to share our stories, travels, encounters and dreams with you.
We are thankful to have been amongst the winners during the 9th Osaka international chamber music competition in Japan, where we performed a musical repertory for brass quintet. During this prestigious event, we decided to go on another path and offer a new program, a combination of transcriptions and original works especially curated for this occasion.
Driven by the desire to broaden our brass quintet repertory, we are pleased to have amongst us the presence of our trumpet player Javier Rossetto, descendent of the Spanish pianist and composer Enrique Granados. We have been exploring his works and discovered Granado’s Valses Poéticos. The transcription was arranged by Gabriel Philippot and he is giving a new momentum to this piece. It was originally written for piano, and the transcription reinvents and adapts the music for a brass quintet.
We’re always curious, open-minded and looking for innovation. We had the fortune to work with Jean-Claude Gengembre, Solo timpanist of the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra. He is also a professor at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse of Paris as well as a composer. Jean-Claude Gengembre delighted us as he composed an original piece, “Souffle du ciel sur l’acier”, that will be part of the compositional study booklet.
