The trio was formed in 1966 in the Hounslow district of London, near the Heathrow airport. “Friday’s Chyld” gave its first performances in the famous “White Bear” bar. They were noticed at once by two recording companies - “Decca” and “Apple”, they signed contracts with both of them. Replacing the signboard with Fire, they sat down in the studio and, under the direction of Tony Clarke (Decca), recorded their first costumes: Father’s Name Dad / Treacle Toffee World (1968). The song from the side of "A" immediately got into the rotation on the radio. But here Paul McCartney himself intervened, who believed that the song “Father’s Name Is Dad” was not good enough. He suggested adding backing vocals and introducing another guitar an octave higher. I had to recall the circulation and redo everything anew. As a result, two single versions appeared on sale. Further worse, the recording company Apple rejected all the material that they managed to accumulate, and producer Mike Berry offered to record their own thing to the group “Round The Gum Tree”. Dave Lambert agreed to sing, the band refused to play. The trinity did not want to have anything to do with “Toothie Ruthie” written by their managers, but refused to record the track, but, nevertheless, in November 1968, under the signboard “Fire”, the single “Round The Gum Tree / Toothie Ruthie” was released Which failed miserably. The group’s relationship with Apple and Decca has completely deteriorated. They had to leave, and soon they signed up for Pye Records. In January 1970, with the help of Dave Cousins, the frontman of Strawbs, and Velvet Opera guitarist Paul Brett, work began on creating the concept album The Magic Shoemaker. All material was prepared personally by Lambert. Immediately after the release of the album, Lambert dissolved Fire and later joined Strawbs, while Dick Dufall and Bob Voice went to Paul Brett in Paul Brett’s Sage.
