With his project Warm Bad, Hendrik Lasure ventures into an intimate pop wrapped in a light perfume of jazz.
The opening track "Welcome" is the appropriate warm starter. Hendrik Lasure invites you to his homely cocoon where he plays the next three quarters of an understated music surrounded by Casper Van De Velde (his faithful companion of SCHNTZL) and furthermore bass player Soet Kempeneer, saxophonist Sam Comerford and no fewer than three guitar players (Marco Giongrandi, Vitja Pauwels, Benjamin Sauzereau). All figures from the young guard who paint on defined sections of styles and genres. An attempt to put a label on "Garden Head": dreamy and summery dream pop anno 2019, sometimes with a distinct structure and then again limited to pure mood creation based on some musical snippets.
Great novelty is that Lasure is out as a vocalist in a number of songs. He knows his limitations in that area and keeps up with almost whispering confessions. In "Jonas" he gets the support of An Pierlé, another person who constantly peeks over walls.
A total of twelve atmospheric expressions with titles such as "A Paradise For Sam", "The Pomegranate Move" and "The Moods". The title track sounds like a real campfire tune picked from "The Trinity Session" by Cowboy Junkies. Velvet Underground and Thindersticks also seem to have been a rewarding source of inspiration here, just like Les Chroniques De L’Inutile ("Our Bubble"!). In "Mountain And Woods", the slightly wavy movement of a guitar that doubts between blues, folk and flamenco fascinates. We have to wait until "Lucas" in which everyone dares to let go of the brakes. A new version of shoegazing and immediately a breaking point in the crystal decor that is generally reminiscent of the productions of labels such as granvat and Aspen. They conclude with "The Puddle Jump" whose funky Telex undertone suggests that there are already plans for a sequel. With the right mix, this song can even grow into a club hit.
"Garden Head" is Hendrik Lasure's "12 shades of post doll". Koen Gisen was responsible for the recording of "Garden Head". The tour has just started, conceived as a double program. In the first part, "Garden Head" is presented, after the break Lasure keeps coming up with one of his other projects.
