T.S.A.K. - Turkisses (2019)

This album in intention was made to highlight the often unheard, rich musical culture of retrospective Turkey It began like many sample based records with me becoming captivated with the output of Turkish retrospective records & sounds, and the levels of intricacy and psychedelia that comprises much of the music I found. Of all my releases so far I would say that I believe this to be the most narrative and all encompassing. I tried to marry a contemporary context with more traditional Turkish artistry. My plans being to subvert it to a more Hip Hop centered gateway to others exploring the sounds of that region & era. The way I myself would with sample based records I have loved throughout time. I feel as far as crate digging is concerned, the objective of keeping it specifically Turkish in origin, although demanding, delivered results that give a real feel of another place, separate to any I personally have had any kind of experience of. My hope is that people when listening to this record, will in imagination, be transported to scenes of a culture so distant from the immediate. It would also be fulfilling to know that people of Turkish ascent could enjoy this not as a Frankenstein of their traditions, but as a nod of respect from myself unto their cultural output.
