Little Jimmy is an icon of the Belpop. He once played the support act of The Who, The Kinks, Led Zeppelin, The Small Faces and even the Rolling Stones (Schaerbeek 1966). He was also the man who inspired Roland Van Campenhout to play blues and he went to America with Chris Whitley (dad of).
In the mid-1980s he returned to Belgium and opened a hotel. Together with Roland and Jean Blaute he was also in a group called James & The Yellow Doll, but after the death of his wife he retired to a houseboat.
After 1994 he returned as Don Croissant, but now, at the age of seventy-five, The Original Belgian Blues Tiger is back as we prefer to hear it. As Little Jimmy, he played a record full of raw, authentic garage blues.
The production was in the hands of the young blueshond Tiny Legs Tim. He says about that: “Jimmy is one of the few white blues men who comes close to the primal blues of R.L in terms of sound and atmosphere. Burnside and John Lee Hooker. You can't and can't coach someone like Jimmy too much, but as a producer of service I wanted to offer him in the Yellow Tape Studio the best possible circumstances to make him his credible self. Furthermore, you are not allowed to produce Jimmy."
