Dennis A Mayer - River of Darkness (2019)

This work represents eleven years of on again off again songwriting and collaborations. As the songs accumulated over this time period after the publication of my first work "You'll" Need Someone", I felt that I had better record them or it wasn't going to happen. From my original work up until the present, now here in February 2019, I have said just about everything I had ever wanted to say about being lost, searching for fulfillment and finding it now and then; through humility, being grateful for what I have with a feeling of connection to those I had lost; knowing that they must have felt many of the same things that I have. So though they may not have narrated their experiences through song, they nevertheless remain relevant and I hope I have expressed for them many of their feelings with the music and words that you find here.

None of this would have been possible without the friendship of N. S Rockwell, my teacher and lead guitar on this work, with Steve Connelly on bass. My thanks also apply to the generous contribution of Ken Huelhorst-graphic artist-in preparing the artwork. Finally I hope whoever hears this work will find it appealing and that it will provide an articulation of some of the feelings that make us human.
