Catarina Ligendza - Schwedische Aufnahmen 1963-1976 (2007)

The great Swedish soprano Catarina Ligendza celebrates her seventieth birthday in 2007. That's why we dedicated this "opera world" CD to her. All recordings will be released on CD for the first time. The oldest dates from 1963 and documents Catarina Ligend-za's first public appearance ever. The last recording is a parade party: When Catarina Ligendza in 1974 in Bayreuth under the direction of Carlos Kleiber sang the Isolde, Joachim Kaiser raved about the "wakefulness of her figure" and attested: "Clear, bright, musically precisely articulated (...) created she isolde of the seventies ». Our live recording was made a few months earlier in Stockholm.
Catarina Ligendza was almost ignored by the record companies. All the more valuable are the recordings presented here, which were mostly written for the Swedish Radio. They include central scenes from Ligendza's great Wagner roles, as well as Italian and Slavic repertoire, which she often sang during her early years of her career. At the age of fifty, at the peak of her skill and art, the soprano has withdrawn from the stage. In the following conversation she gives information about the time before and after.
