Pyrenesia - Off-Beat Symphony (2019)

Off-Beat Symphony is Pyrenesia’s first full-length album. (Their 2017 self-titled EP is available on Bandcamp.) The quartet of violin, accordion, guitar, and bass takes listeners on a musical journey, evoking images of cafes in Paris, gatherings of Romani buskers, smoky New Orleans bars, warped carnival rides, and even pirate voyages. Incorporating the nuance and energy of gypsy jazz but staying faithful to their own quirky personalities, Pyrenesia basks in every beam of sunlight Django Reinhardt sends down from above. With 8 original compositions, 2 trad tracks, and 2 jazz standards, Off-Beat Symphony connects the old with the new. It is nostalgia in its most refreshing form.
