While I was writing ’The Kid Who Would Be King’ I listened to one track more than any other - ‘Dirty Harry’ by Gorillaz. It had everything I hoped the movie would have. Swagger and fun, insanely catchy
riffs, cinematic scale and a chorus of kids who sounded ready to take on the world.
So when we discovered Damon Albarn is part of a ?lm scoring collective with his associates Mike Smith, Suzi Winstanley and Nelson De Freitas, we knew exactly where to go for our score.
Together they are Electric Wave Bureau and, as luck would have it, they were just as obsessed with Arthurian legend as I am. And just as excited about bringing that legend into the modern world.
T To supplement EWB’s collective genius came three more musicians. The supremely talented Christoph Bauschinger helped mould the score to the action. The ingenious Matt Dunkley weaved in
sensational orchestration. And the incredible William Lyons brought his unique skill playing medieval instruments.
And here’s the result. A musical quest that collides the ancient with the modern. A clarion call from the mythical past to the all-too-real present. So saddle your steeds, gather your allies and get ready for
