Ashley G. Garner brings a multi-sensory experience in collaboration with ALURIA highlighting the therapeutic property of six different flora. The unique frequencies given off by each plant were measured and converted into an auditory and vibrational-based haptic encounter for the public, featuring works by cbihateperfume , e_p_h_e_m_e_r_a Madness_and_Methods, and Not Impossible.
Studies have proven that spending 3-5 minutes simply looking at a picture of nature can reduce muscle tension, blood pressure, stress and anxiety. ÆSTHESIA is a multi-sensory series that explores the healing benefits of flora through sight, sound, scent, taste, and touch.
Starting with the six most common flora used in modern medical practices (chamomile, lavender, echinacea, marigold, wild rose, and tiger lily) in collaboration with floral artist, Nicole Absher, these photo stills were taken during the making of six films that elucidate each flora and colors that are most commonly used in health care settings.
Each film is paired with music made from the actual vibrations of each flora in the studio using a MIDI sprout profoundly interpreting the life, death and ethereal imaginative collective of their nature through soundscapes composed by international musician, Juan Correa Lopez aka ALURIA. Scents designed by Smithsonian recognized olfactory artist, Christopher Brosius, and flora extract infused candies created by NYC chef, Tessa Liebman, expand upon the holistic experience of each flora in public exhibitions.
