Jan Lindqvist - Superkarma (2019)

The guru guru string magician Jan Lindqvist abducts the listeners on his new album "Superkarma" in blues-soaked, meditative sound worlds with spiritual-seeming, ostinato grooves. In eleven songs from his own pen, he creates floating soundscapes, the roots of which are deeply rooted in blues and psychedelic rock.

Lindqvist is known as an extraordinary slider, lapster and sound visionary. Always on the lookout for new sounds and fresh inspiration, he studied Indian slide guitar in Jaipur at Worldmusic Grammy Award winner Vishwa Mohan Bhatt. Even his formative impressions can be found on "Superkarma" again. Indian-style melodies paired with earthy slide sounds meet archaic blues grooves in the style of John Lee Hooker or Ali Farouk Toures. Mystic soundscapes in the style of a Daniel Lanois interweave with the space rock by Guru Guru.

"Superkarma" was recorded live, without net and without double bottom. The two big names Armin Rühl and Wolfy Ziegler provide for the hypnotic grooves and the auratic foundation. While Rühl, one of Germany's best drummers, is first known for his work with Herbert Grönemeyer, bassist Ziegler is currently touring with "Spliff Reloaded".
