The sound of Picasso, official CD of the Picasso exhibition. Metamorphosis In collaboration with Skira for the monographic exhibition dedicated to Pablo Picasso. From 18 October 2018 to 17 February 2019, Palazzo Reale will host Picasso. Metamorphosis, a monographic exhibition dedicated to the relationship between Picasso and ancient mythology. Concerto Classics, as part of a project to enhance the link between music and figurative art, in collaboration with Skira, offers a record with the music that accompanied the artistic path of Picasso, to which is added the essay Picasso and music: a introduction, signed by the Milanese pianist and essayist Luca Ciammarughi.

The musical path suggested by Concerto Classics includes pieces by French composers with whom Picasso came into contact in the early decades of the twentieth century: Satie, Stravinsky, Debussy, Milhaud and Poulenc, and Spaniards such as Albéniz, De Falla and Granados. The interpreters of the album are pianist Luca Ciammarughi and saxophonist Jacopo Taddei.

Of the relationships between Picasso and the artists of his time he extensively deals with Luca Ciammarughi in his essay, necessary to understand the motivations behind this unprecedented musical journey. «It is in Paris that music enters Picasso's painting», Ciammarughi writes, «on the other hand one can not ignore the Spanish origins of the artist, the Spanish aesthetics that emerges in his paintings and which necessarily links him to those composers conterranei, who also frequented Paris, actively and for long periods ». On the CD there are unpublished arrangements for piano and saxophone of the songs of Satie and Granados, originally for solo piano, also curated by Luca Ciammarughi.
At the basis of the collaboration between Concerto Classics and Skira is the desire to explore the art of Picasso from a musical point of view: the audioguides will be "sound" from this album The sound of Picasso. The work of Picasso is changing and the exhibition itinerary aims to highlight this aspect: metamorphosis. At the same time, the musical path can only accentuate and exemplify the artist's constantly evolving complexity, guiding the visitor inside the exhibition and suggesting new perspectives.
