After many years in the music industry and 2 very successful CD’s and - “Mercy Train” is the new album for Triple Chain award winner Liza Ohlback - distinctly drawing from her Blues, Jazz and Gospel background with the Spirit of the great Southern singers like Mavis Staples, Etta James, Tony Joe White and even Aretha Franklin. Liza’s voice is drenched with Blues - Soulful and passionate with a stunning range and she gives it all till the last drop…..
Blues Grooves laced with Funky Wah Wah Guitar, swirling Organ, stride piano and earthy scatting, just like the 1940’s New Orleans/Jazz sound. Also a good splattering of Memphis sty;e Brass and tantalizing Gospel Harmonies inspired by the Staple singers and Blind boys of Alabama, and from her own memories of singing in her mothers Gospel vocal group when very young….
Like in her other albums Liza lets you in her personal life and brings you to tears one moment and laughter the next - she gives all and then some.. like a true 1940’s Torch singer… Liza’s husband Greg (Producer of the year Chain Awards 2013) engineered and co-produced the album, produced the artwork and played Drums and percussion.
This a truly uplifting album full of surprises and some incredible talent from artists such as Clayton Doley and Rick Melick ( Jo Bonamassa) who co-wrote and arranged some of the tunes.
