Five years after the release of their complete recording of Mozart's string trios, TrioFenix returns with a new album devoted to this repertoire that is less well-known than the quartet but equally demanding, lending their refined, natural playing to another master : Ludwig van Beethoven. Although the String Trio in E flat major, Op.3, is the work of a maturing composer who seems to have modelled its six movements on Mozart's Divertimento, K.563, it already demonstrates this authentic Beethovenian power that makes us overlook any chronological consideration of the composer's work and perceive each score's intrinsic value : here, we are already dealing with a masterpiece. TrioFenix takes us even further into Beethoven's early Viennese years, also giving us a rich, sensitive reading of the Serenade, Op.8.
