It looked like the sun had set on Fayrouz’s spectacular career after a spat with her son and longtime producer Ziad Rahbani—but Bebalee sees the Lebanese diva as strong as ever, offering up captivating interpretations of classics. “Yemken" is her take on John Lennon’s “Imagine”, and “Ana Weyyak” her version of the bolero staple “Bésame Mucho”—a clear testament to the fact that the epic musical tale of Fayrouz still has unwritten chapters.
