Janice Dempsey was a top background vocalist in the '80s, supporting Najee, Freddie Jackson, Lillo Thomas, and Smokey Robinson, among others. For some reason, she didn't get a fair shake at Geffen, which cut a session and then didn't release it. She came to Epic, and Paul Laurence did a solid job on her first and only album. Despite some outstanding uptempo arrangements and boisterous vocals, the album floundered.
