Robyn Spangler - Christmas Is (2018)

Christmas Is... Robyn Spangler's fourth release on o.p. records and is her follow-up to the award winning 2017 release "Something Cool: The Billy Barnes Sessions," which won an Eddon Award for Best CD of 2017, and was named one of the 12 best recordings of 2017 by "All About Jazz." The CD established her as an upcoming artist to watch.

Robyn grew up in a musical family, started singing with a cover band at 17, and has enjoyed a successful and satisfying career as a performer.

Songs Spangler chose for this project are not your standard fare. The CD comprises many lesser known Christmas songs as well as new original tunes that one would not expect. From standards like "It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas," which is a duet with Don Most, to re-imagined pop tunes, "From a Distance" and "What a Wonderful World" to musical theatre's "Edelweiss" from "The Sound of Music" "Christmas Is..." a project that once again showcases Spangler's versatilely and artistry.

Spangler has appeared with the San Diego Ballet Symphony, the Saddleback College Emeritus Institute Symphony in Laguna Beach, with the New England Symphonic Ensemble at Carnegie Hall in New York and Royce Hall at UCLA in Los Angeles as well as the Iridium in New York and The Pheasantry in London.

Spangler brings a warmth and understanding that reflect the beauty of the music, the intimacy of the lyrics and her own growing maturity as an artist.
