Just a few years ago, Eagle-Eye Cherry was not sure if he wanted to continue working as an artist. However, a series of fortunate circumstances sparked his desire to record and tour albums again: a new, professional environment that saw more opportunities for change as the music business progressed, a trip to a specific city, and a chance to record its songs to be able to play live so often that they almost had a life of their own. The result is his new album "Streets Of You", the fifth since his successful debut "Desireless" in 1997.
"I had come to appreciate my anonymity again. I was able to hang out with my family and play football on the weekend. Also, like many other musicians of my generation, I felt quite lost in this new era of streaming, "says Eagle-Eye Cherry.
So, after 18 years, he switched to a new management that showed him the options made possible by the new technologies. The second and decisive step was his trip to Nashville: "I was eager to work with other songwriters. First I tried Los Angeles, but the city and I simply did not harmonize. I loved Nashville from the start. The attitude of the people there is fantastic and the music is literally flowing through the veins of this city. No matter where you go, you can hear music everywhere and everybody applauds you. That's what made me want to play back, it was a real aha-effect. "
His euphoria returned to Blackbird Studios, which has become the most popular pop music hotspot in the last 20 years. He recorded some songs there and finally made the plan to record an entire album again. Back in Sweden, he continued his work at the Atlantis Studio in Stockholm, where legends like Abba to Elvis Costello had stood in front of the microphone. There he worked together with the Swedish producer Peter Kvint.
"We recorded extremely oldschool with a great band for ten days. Every song we played finally landed on the album. I still love the format of a complete album, but later I could imagine an EP where I concentrate on fewer songs. But now it will be a real record. "
